Chopta distance is about 450 KMs from Delhi is an overnight journey on Friday from Delhi to Haridwar than Saturday morning, we picked shared jeep from Haridwar upto Duggalbitta. This is one of the most enchanting short treks and lies in the Garhwal Himalayan region. The road adventure, one usually takes Delhi to Karanparayag, which is approximately 400 kms and then travel more. Also from Haridwar, 6 hours drive to Okimath and then do a Trek to Devariatal. In the first leg of the trek we trek to Deoriatal. Peaceful lakeside picnic can be the best to do with your family watching the blossoms in the forest ranges around. This is a beautiful lake and it has captivating surroundings with forests all around. The lake reflects beautiful Chaukhamba peak. After a stay overnight, next morning go for the trek which is from Deoriatal to Chopta.

Chopta is a beautiful hill station and a superb trekking destination in Uttarakhand. You will find the gorgeous Monal, the state bird of Uttarakahnd also known for its color blend of shinning blue and emeralds. Chopta is a village located some 36kms from Gopeshwar and 254 kms from Rishikesh approx. Chopta is an easy and short trek which runs parallel to the sky-scraping Himalayan Treks. Surrounded by meadows and evergreen forest with the spectacular views of mighty Himalayan ranges, Chopta not only attracts Indian but International tourists and trekkers all round the year. Chopta is the basecamp for various destinations like Deproata, Tungnath, Chandrashila etc. And this little place guides you to Deorital which is best and famous treks in Uttarakhand.

Day 1: DELHI, RISHIKESH TO DEORIATAL

Overnight Journey from delhi to Rishikesh than spend time in Rishikesh immersing in cultural activitiesand adventure sports in the choppy waters of Ganga and than hire jeep from Rishikesh to karanparayag and continue to Duggalbitta. Its a gradual trek and the views are worth the effort. The trek on the first day is easy with mixed ascent and descent. A well-defined rocky trail will show you to the end. Watch the valleys with small houses and experience the stay at Himalayan eco-lodges and huts. You could be a nature treasurer, bird watching amateur with a dream of capturing the highlands.

Post breakfast take small trek to Deoriatal which is believed to be the Indra Sarovar referred to in the Puranas. When the Pandavas were in exile and were hiding from the Kauravas, they stopped nearby for a rest. When mother Kunti felt thirsty, one by one four of her sons went to fetch water from this lake and died, as they could not answer the question by Yaksha Devta who resided here. Than Yudishtra's answered all questions correctly and dead brothers came back to life. It is said that the Devas used to bathe in this lake. Deoriatal is a window into Himalaya’s spring color vibrancy. The surrounding of the lake is picturesque as the mighty peaks of Chaukhamba and Neelkanth are reflected in the crystal clear water of the lake. Spend quality time near the lake. Night stay at Deoria Tal campsite. We wakeup in the early morning for an excellent sunrise view on the snow covered Himalayan Peaks.



Day 2: DEORIATAL TO CHOPTA

After breakfast, the trek starts to Chopta trek is known for its mesmerizing beauty. Its a starting trek point for Tungnath also. You will explore the surrounding areas and spend some time to relax. Next on our trail is Chopta, popularly as the Mini-Switzerland of India because of its undulating green meadows and a breath taking view of the majestic Himalayan peaks. The trek is mostly a gradual through the rhododendron dense forest. We pass through the dense forest and beautiful alpine meadows dotted with flowers. In the first leg of the trek we hike up to Deoriatal. Trek one gets to stay at the base of Chopta meadows in the beautiful campsite. This is a beautiful lake and it has captivating surroundings with forests all around. Arrive Chopta and camp at outskirts. Hot meals will be served shortly with overnight stay in tent. The easy accessibility to Deoriatal and Chopta town will make your stay a promising one. This trek overlooks the Mandakini River and in the shadow of the Kedar peak. We Wake up very early morning to trek in Foresh and doing some activity like mountain climbing, rappeling etc.


Day 3: CHOPTA, RISHIKESH TO DELHI

Morning after breakfast than walk a small trek to reach the road and board our vehicle and drive back. A ride back from the Chopta road head to Rishikesh is scheduled for the day. After journey full of mellow reminisces of the hills, you will be reaching Rishikesh in the evening. Board the bus from Rishikesh, an overnight journey to Delhi will hopefully work out best and Tour ends upon arrival in Delhi.


HOW TO REACH

BY AIR : The nearest airport to Chopta is Jolly Grant in Dehradun. It is situated 226 kms away from Chopta. Flights from Delhi are at regular intervals to Dehradun. One can hire cabs that are easily available for Chopta.

BY TRAIN : The nearest and most convenient railway station is Rishikesh from Chopta. Situated at about 209 kms, Rishikesh railway station is connected to several cities in the country. One can easily access bus or taxi services for Chopta from Rishikesh.

BY ROAD : If you plan to visit the neighboring towns in Uttarakhand, then a road journey would be most convenient. Many buses from nearby towns come to Chopta at regular intervals. One may even hire private taxi or jeep from any of these towns.


WHAT ARE THE RISK INVOLVED ?

Acute Mountain Sickness(AMS): Shortness breath, Mild headache & Tiredness are some common in high altitude trek. Risk of being hit by AMS is considerably low but you are advised to be on a course of Diamox. In case of any medical emergencies, there are easy exit points on this trek, means evacuation will generally not take more than 24 hours.


HOW TO PREPARE FOR TREK

Prepration: Fight again sub-zero temperatures, carry multi layers throughout winter trek and practice carrying packed backpack to comfortable with it. Carrying dry fruits will help on trek since they provide instant energy. The ascent-descent during the trek demands level of fitness. Begin your fitness preparation, jogging 5 Km in 30 minute before One month or two before start the trek, stretching exercises for flexibility are important so you don’t get cramps in trek.


BEST TIME FOR TREK

The best time to travel to Chopta is in the summers during "April to June" and Best time in Winters is "October to December". Winter treks are also conducted in Chopta and the best months to trek are between "January to March".
